A Church of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
The Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley

We, the Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Bessemer, Alabama, reaffirm our belief in the Holy Bible as the authoritative and divinely-inspired Word of God. In our decision-making, we pledge to be guided first by the Bible and then by the Books of Order and Confessions, as currently written and ratified by the congregations of the Presbyterian Church. Furthermore, the Session recommits itself and the congregation to continuing its focus on the mission and evangelism work of the Church.

               This is the day that the Lord hath made;
               Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
                                                                          --- Psalm 118:24

               I was glad when they said unto me,
               "Let us go into the House of the Lord"
                                                                          --- Psalm 122:1
